I love it when the system works. it’s a beautiful thing. Bitter and disappointing for the people who labored on this, but it is great for the progress of humanity.

And this is partially why the M&A trend has moved towards more frequent, smaller deals in the single-digit billions. Too much capital tied up in one company with lots of risk of failure.

"Professor Krumholz said, “There is a sobering lesson in this clinical failure,” explaining, “Just as wrinkles are a marker of aging rather than its cause, a factor that appears to be a cause of heart disease may, in reality, be nothing more than a simple marker.” So maybe the cardiovascular risk associated with Lp(a) was overstated, or perhaps Lp(a) is a causal factor but not as therapeutically actionable as we thought. Wouldn't this be positive news for all the people with increased Lp(a)?

A lot of geniuses here that knew it was going to fail. FYI - if that’s the case, there is a lot of money to be made investing.

Good mechanism and a decent bet. Maybe too pricey. But you can’t win them all. Unfortunate for patients.
